‘Your poll made Trump mad’ is not a valid basis for a lawsuit

"Wanna bet?"

-- Trump, as he files suit against WaPo.

I highly doubt Donald would let anyone hold his fries.

Bezos: let’s settle for a few million to your ~~bribery~~ inauguration fund

[–] [email protected] 13 points 4 days ago

No need to strike out the word bribery any more. Not like they even bother trying to hide it.

Strangely he's going after The Des Moines Register. Sound like a small newspaper company.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 days ago

Makes for nice easy wins to pad the stats that can be used as leverage to get other companies to fold. The Des Moines Register probably one day dreams of having 1% of the resources that a company like ABC or a person like Jeff Bezos has, and they fell like a house of cards. If they couldn't stand up to Trump, some local newspaper has zero chance.

And then Trump can just use that as leverage to intimidate the next paper. And the one after that. The message is pretty simple. Whether you're some giant multimedia conglomerate or some podunk high school rag, if you anger Trump, he can and will go after you for it. It's insurance to make sure that the rubes don't get all uppity, thinking they're too small to be noticed.

I'm surprised Bezos let them publish it....

[–] [email protected] 27 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It wasn’t, but welcome to our new reality. Elections have consequences people.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Ugh, I have to hear "elections have consequences" for the next term every time he does anything shitty.

We know. He sucks, it sucks, this sucks.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

That is ironically one of the consequences of this election.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago

Lol fair enough.

Fuck Bezos, America is fucked and Jeff needs to reap what he hath wrought

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

Well you can put that on your "that shit ain't happening, money runs and is the game" list.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 5 days ago

that poll, where it was, and its timing--probably helped him more than hurt him.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 4 days ago

If this suit somehow won, Rassmussen would be out of business the next day as dozens if not hundreds of members of Congress filed similar lawsuits.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 5 days ago

Broadly, this is just the sort of thing that can be expected when we allow positions of power to be held by people who are mentally ill.

They may be immune from prosecution, but is a sitting President immune from being ordered a Vexatious Litigant?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

SCOTUS says yes, as long as it's their guy.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

Correction. "Your poll made Trump made WASN'T a valid basis for a lawsuit." FTFY.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 days ago
[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago

... ofcourse it is ... It just might not be a basis of a legitimate win but winning by draining the enemy of resources is a win as well.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago

But soon it will be.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 days ago

Sure, but have you considered how much easier it is to bribe/pay tribute when you pay through a bullshit settlement on a bullshit lawsuit?
