Lemmy.zip Updated to 0.19! (self.announcements)
submitted 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) by Demigodrick to c/announcements

It appears the upgrade to 0.19 was successful, which brings with it a host of improvements and upgrades.

The full list of changes is here. One issue that you may notice is that if you previously had 2FA set up, this will have been removed during the upgrade.

I would encourage everyone to set up 2FA now that the issues with it are fixed.

If you notice any issues, please drop me a message here or on matrix and I can look into it.

One change I've had to make is to remove the Voyager front end (v.lemmy.zip) - Voyager has it's own app in all app stores now, and maintenance of our own modified version of the front-end was becoming tricky. Apologies to anyone this affects.

I was just wondering why I got logged out, but this explains it :)

Thanks for your work!

I feel like the past two updates have kinda killed Jerboa. I both cannot log on to my lemmy.zip account nor can I log on to my secondary account on a different instance. Not really sure what's been going on

Edit: Uninstalling and reinstalling also doesn't do anything. Still cannot log on with either of the two accounts. Guess I'll post in the Jerboa community

There was a big change with this version to do with authorization and logging in - i think the alpha version of Jerboa fixes some more issues too, but this is quite a change for most apps.

So should I just stick to Voyager for the time being? A little annoying since I prefer Jerboa over Voyager quite a bit but fine for now, I guess

[–] Demigodrick 2 points 9 months ago

If you can sideload the latest Jerboa version from github, it looks like it fixes some login bugs.

I logged back in okay on jerboa

Edit: I take it back I cant scroll further back than 24 hrs on my subscribed feed since the update :s

That's sad, it was one of the first apps I tried out and kept going back to for a while.

What's good now that's 0.19 compatible?

[–] Lumun 3 points 9 months ago

I switched from Liftoff to Voyager and it is very good.

I was on Infinity before Reddit did it's thing. I moved to Liftoff. Now I'm on an Infinity fork for the free Fediverse called Eternity 🙂

Thanks for keeping the server up to date! There was a bit of weirdness on Boost. Had the feed set to subscribed but it was showing posts from all. Setting it to subscribed again seems to have fixed it. Not sure if it's an issue with Boost but I haven't noticed it happening before.

Update: I was trying to post this but I was getting a 401 error. Re-logging seems to have fixed it. Also some missing notifications arrived after re-logging.

[–] Demigodrick 1 points 9 months ago

Glad relogging fixed it but let me know if you keep getting any weirdness with boost!

just switched over to lemmy.zip after realizing that lemm.ee is kinda dead, glad to be here in a place with active admins, and a community that aligns a little more with me!

Hey thanks for the update.

I noticed the subscription feed in old.lemmy.zip doesn't work anymore. It shows the same content as "all" does.

I also couldn't make this comment from old.lemmy.zip

~~There hasn't been an updated to the software that runs it yet, so I think there will likely be issues for a little while until they make it compatible with 0.19 :(~~

Scratch that - just applied an update. Looks like it should work now?

Still behaving a little wonky, though functional. I had to reload this post before comments showed up, but then they showed up fine. Can still upvote/downvote though, and obviously I can post since I'm making this comment via the "old"/MLMYM interface.

EDIT: Oh, also I couldn't edit my comment until I reloaded the page. Originally I was going to edit to say that I had to log out and log back in again before "old" would function correctly.

EDITx2: It also took several presses of the Save button before my edit actually went through.

[–] Demigodrick 1 points 9 months ago

Yeah, we're tracking performance issues following the update. There may be additional issues via the "old" front end too which we'll try and sort once we've stabilised the site.

Subscription feed works and if you can see this, posting as well. :)

Thanks!

Great stuff! 😊

[–] altima_neo 2 points 9 months ago

Very cool! Seems to be working well with Sync.

[–] altima_neo 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Wait on second though, I'm having an issue. Not sure if it's sync or Lemmy.

Usually I can vote on posts and they'll get marked as read and disappear from my feed, bit that doesn't seem to be working any more.

[–] Demigodrick 2 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

Sounds like a sync issue as that isn't default Lemmy behaviour AFAIK. Check your user settings though, they might have been reset as part of the upgrade.

Edit: I have seen comments that possibly the functionality of the "hide seen posts" option is broken, will keep an eye out for more info.

[–] altima_neo 2 points 9 months ago

Thanks, I think that functionality was also on the browser on PC, as that's how I usually browse Lemmy (vote on posts, refresh, read new posts), but I haven't had a chance to get on my PC today.
