Oh hell yeah, this is right up my alley!

edit: I am definitely gonna binge this whole channel. Also I felt so vindicated when he talked about the fiction of long vowel phonemes in American English! I dutifully used them in my phonemic transcriptions for my coursework but never felt like I could actually hear them as longer than the "short" vowels when in similar environment. It didn't seem reasonable that it was just my ear not being sensitive enough since I didn't have trouble speaking and understanding Japanese (where vowel length is phonemic). On the other hand, after hearing his demonstrations of vowel length in British English I now have something new to keep in mind when trying to put on an accent (or ferreting out American imposters).
