I mean if they got everything they wanted, that's great, but I think the country as a whole would, in the long term, benefit from them striking anyways. Why? Because those in power think they're immune to consequences for their actions. They think they hold all the power and can do whatever they want whenever they want. The only way other than a revolution to take some of that power back is for a massive general strike unlike this country has ever seen before.

As the saying goes, an injury to one is an injury to all.
Because those in power think they’re immune to consequences for their actions.
I think its more nuanced than that. I don't think they think they are immune from the consequences, but rather they believe they can weather the consequences no matter how bad they get. I would guess the super wealthy all have escape plans with liquid wealth, pre-planned/prepared travel arrangements and multiple passports that would allow them to travel to a separate functioning society if ours falls around our ears.
Hmm, is this why they buy super yachts? Is the escape plan to simply live on the boat in the middle of the ocean in luxury if all ports of call fall into chaos?
This is great news and huge positive impact for the nation.
We'll see. Our local UPS driver said the part time guys in our local hub was only getting 9 dollars an hour. That nowhere close to the 16.50 they are boasting about.
How is that possible if they are employed under union rules?
A lot aren't, which was a large part of people that were protesting (they are part timers therefore not union members, and in a lot of them make around half as much union employees with no benefits).
Possible the part-time workers are contractors? Maybe they wouldn’t be in the union
Yes. Exactly what I was getting at. They must not be union
And no impact on shipping costs? doubt
The big negotiation was about part time workers so that is unlikely to lead to increases in shipping.
