Is it wrong to hate evil people? I'll admit, the day he is no longer in office (however that may occur), will be a day I celebrate. I feel this man has done unforgivable damage to our society. Term limits and campaign finance reform would go a long way to keep his ilk out of seats of power.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I do not wish this man ill will. I will, however, make a pilgrimage to his gravesite so that I can urinate the words "Merrick Garland" into the grass at the foot of his headstone. Might take a few attempts, but I'll get there.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I, on the other hand, wish him a quick death

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

There is no universal morality. If you think it's fine to hate evil people, do it. No judgement here.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Not so sure its a day to celebrate. We seem to have a new, younger, more vibrant, generation of assholes in congress that are making the patriarchs look not so bad by comparison.

They haven't built up the power and influence yet, so trading McConnell for another MTG would be an improvement.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I used to have so much respect for that card game!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

you are assuming he won't be replaced by someone far worse. which he very well may be

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

while that's possible, I'm hopeful still.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I wouldn’t get your hopes up. Daniel Cameron is essentially his protege and is rather popular in KY. If he doesn’t win Governor he’ll likely take over when Mitch retires/dies.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Can I hope they both die?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Anyone who replaces him will lack the decades of experience wielding power that he has.

They may be worse ideologically, but they won't have the ability to get shit done, or rather to stand in the way, like he has.

Hell, he even survived openly criticizing Trump. Any other republican who did that in today's world would be gone from the party, and yet McConnell is still the senate minority leader.

Don’t hate the player, hate the game 😎

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

This player changed the rules of the game, for the worse.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

... is a phrase that's only ever used to justify appalling behavior.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 year ago

Not justifying his actions, simply shifting emphasis from the actions of the individual to the circumstance which condition the individual’s actions. I think it avoids reductive moralization of politics and how it works. Mitch is evil? Get rid of this individual and things will improve? It’s that kind of mindset that blinds one to a more systemic critique. How about critiquing the totally impotent “left” that has been unable to mobilize any actual resistance to right wing policy? Just as an example.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

It's not hatred to say that due to the things he has done, the world would be a better place if he did not inhabit it.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I wonder if the Republicans that say Biden is decrepit will start shrieking for McConnell's resignation now.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Nah. Intellectual consistent isn't their thing.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Because they tend to not do that when it's their guy.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I guess he needs to go back to his crypt and cast another necromancing spell.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

He was back out shortly after so you might be onto something.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'd muster up some sympathy for the man, but his own track record really makes that impossible.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Stealing a Supreme Court pick because it was "too close to the next presidential election", then rushing the Coney-Barrett confirmation a month before the 2020 election and smirking about it on camera made me lose my liberal respect for all life. If he had a stroke I'm rooting for the blood clot.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

why are people voting for 80 year olds again

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Wishing Mitch many more strokes in the future aside...

God I'm sick of these frail old people who only have half their brain functionality, who are so incredibly out of touch with the average American due to decades and decades of being a high ranking politician, who won't live long enough to even see what they've done to the world, let alone have to experience the suffering they've caused, still running this damned country instead of stepping aside for a younger generation.

And yes, I know, young conservatives aren't any better. But they're also less entrenched, they still have time to change their minds on things, they WILL live to see the destruction conservative policies will bring. It's not much but it's better than 1000yr old, dementia brained, stroke having puppets. Run by their staff, and still barely functioning. Mitch could have been the bestest politician ever and I'd still be here saying he's reached the point where he needs to retire to his rocking chair.

Again, wishing him every well deserved stroke he gets.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Even though I despise the man, this is not enjoyable to watch.

Besides that, it point to a central problem with American politics - the politicians are WAY to old 👴🏻

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

My mom had a stroke a few years ago and that’s all i could think of while watching. He’s a terrible person but i still feel great empathy for him and his family.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He would not feel that for your family, you know right?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Yes but I’m not a sociopath.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

He was just lost for a minute because he forgot he didn't have a shell anymore and didn't have anywhere to put his head.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Here’s hoping for a mega!!!!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

He might want to consider retirement.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Too bad it was just a mini one. Better luck next time.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Nah, he just needs to sun himself on a rock for about an hour. At his age, he needs to recharge his turtle power every once in a while.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

He has turtle power!? Mitchelangelo, the absolute worst Ninja Turtle, by far.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Was the air conditioning blowing too much at the press conference?

Approximately 45 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit / 7 to 12 degrees Celsius can be considered cold for tortoises. Anything below is very cold and can become dangerous.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Looks more like a focal seizure to me but could have been a TIA. Rooting for either at this point but he probably will just say it was nothing or dehydration and keep on being in control of half our Congress until he drops dead (hopefully sooner than later).
