We're all in this together, and a better world is possible!

This is now also a space for organizing tips for our collective survival as we confront climate change and everything else. Still no doom-posting. We're here to work together, support each other, and boldly face the future.

  1. Familiarize yourself with the site-wide Code of Conduct

  2. No doom, no gloom, only bloom. There's plenty of room for doomerism elsewhere. This community is solely for having a positive outlook on the future and spreading good vibes.

  3. Be kind to your fellow users. This also means no arguing in the comm. Arguments and negativity are not conducive to blooming. Constructive discussion is good. No interest-policing. Support your comrades in their joy!

  4. Always share good news. We can't exactly enforce this one, but if you have good news, please share it with us! Keeping happiness and positivity to yourself is the twelfth type of liberalism.

Hello,

I've had a bad few weeks. Got kicked out of my apartment, can't find a job, consumed true crime content for some ungodly reason, and obviously the state of the world is depressing as hell. If you could help me find some optimism to get me through the unfortunate situation I've found myself in, I could really use it right now.

I'm over a week smoke free and still sane, so let me share that bit of positive good news with you. And I hope things get better for you comrade.

Congrats! First week is the hardest part!

Hell yeah comrade. I relapsed on nicotine last Saturday, and I’m once again 3 days clean (the hardest milestone, something about third day just really sucks).

Stay strong and don’t slip, it’s easier to quit everytime you try but that doesn’t make it enjoyable.

Thanks, the gum has been helping, I'm going to follow the 12 weeks plan

Good luck! I’ve always sworn by cold Turkey, but if you have the willpower to regulate intake that’s worked very well for people I know. I just couldn't regulate.

(We don’t have a Liz truss emote, I tried to make a Liz truss joke and realized it wouldn’t be funny without a picture)

Great job! I watched my sister try to quit smoking so I know how tough it can be. Congratulations on a week and I hope to hear about another milestone next week.

Very nice! Taking the first step to receiving mental health can be so hard, I'm proud of you for taking that step!

The humane society is sending somebody to trap and fix the cat colony near my work! I haven’t heard back if I’ll be allowed to give the unsellable cat food to them, but they already donate the near expired stuff so I don’t see why they’d say no (they only need the barcode off the bag for insurance purposes anyways)

So some unhomed kitties are going to have their lives improved.

Edit: forgot to add context, the humane society just spays or neuters them and re-releases them after checking for infectious diseases and stuff. So don’t worry, it’s actually just good news for the cats.

Edit 2: removed reference to felinicide

J/k I knew what you meant, that's wonderful to hear!

Oh no, what a terrible typo lol.

For now here is a heavily cropped image of a very pretty kitty that doesn’t know he’s getting a diet upgrade soon

Stray cat update: he meowed very politely and didn’t run away when I shared some food. He didn’t eat it until later, but started washing.

I’ll update with a picture of the shelter they built for him later.
