Russia has probably written off all the assets the Europeans stole from them. I don't think they're ever getting those back regardless how the war ends, but it doesn't matter because they can seize western assets in Russia and more than make up for their losses. They have already partially begun doing this.

the U.S. would continue to pump Ukraine full of weapons

This actually seems like a ceasefire agreement that Russia might agree to?

The whole point of the SMO was to stop and undo the militarization of Ukraine by NATO. Allowing Ukraine to rearm would defeat the entire purpose. I won't pretend to know what the Kremlin is thinking and whether or not they will after all end up conceding on this, but at least in all their public statements they continually repeat that the goals remain unchanged - demilitarization, de-nazification and no NATO - and all the goals will be achieved. The West still thinks that Russia isn't serious about any of those points. Time will tell.

Never heard of phenylephrine but we have shit over in Europe too that does fuck-all, like that "homeopathic" bullcrap. Last time i went to visit my grandma i happened to have a cold and she immediately tried giving me some stuff called "oscillococcinum". I got suspicious when i looked over the packaging so i looked it up, and turns out it's basically nothing but sugar claiming to be imbued with some magic properties thanks to "trace" (read ZERO) amounts of something or other.

Pisses me the fuck off...they advertise the shit out of it on TV and they get gullible old people to waste their money. And their pensions are already meager in eastern Europe, they don't need to be scammed out of their money with placebo pills. Tried to convince my grandma to stop buying the stuff but i think all i managed to do was make her mad at me :(

Sometimes even people who have lived through a collapse don't understand it. My family lived through the collapse of socialism in eastern Europe in the 80s and 90s, and yet since moving to Germany my parents have fully bought into the dominant ideology here, they listen to all the liberal mainstream media and it's turned them into total turbolibs. When you bring up the possibility of a serious crash because of the energy/deindustrialization crisis they say that can't happen in democratic countries like Germany, it only happened in Romania because it was a communist dictatorship. And it was supposedly good that it happened because that was "the market correcting itself", there was "too much" industry and building under communism.

What's funny is that the part of my family that stayed in Romania are not buying the western liberal line to the same extent. They're split between nostalgia for communism in my grandparents' generation and full on petit bourgeois reactionary brainworms in the generation after them, especially in the more well off ones, complaining about welfare, criminal ethnic minorities, and adopting all the standard American conservative talking points ("woke" this, "woke" that, trans panic, too much racial/gender diversity on TV, etc.).

Sound like Chomsky to me.

They absolutely will win again, probably as soon as four years from now when the vast majority of Americans will have forgotten the Democrats' failures and the atrocities that the Democrats supported (if they ever even cared about those), while the atrocities that the Republicans will have supported and them equally failing to improve the material situation of the majority of people will be fresh in their minds.

As things will get worse and worse people will always blame whoever is in power and will choose the other side. The only question is how long can the ruling class can keep this shell game going, and my guess is quite long. People have short political memories and always want to delude themselves into thinking that this time it will be different.

I think you should read the article. The title sounds a bit libby but the piece itself is quite good and has, i would say, overall a correct analysis.

The only thing i'd criticize is the title, because Trump is just a symptom, he's not what needs to be defeated but the entire system that put people like him, Biden, Harris, Obama, Bush, Clinton, etc. in positions of power. The corporate uniparty is what needs to be defeated, regardless whether it dresses itself in red or blue, whether it wears its fascism openly or disguises it with liberal platitudes.

Then again i suppose you could argue the title is clickbait to get more people to read the piece... Makes it something you could share with a liberal friend or relative and trick them into reading a real materialist analysis for once.

What i've been hearing most from people around me is a belief that Germany is too big to fail. It's just too rich, too big of an economy, "we'll be fine" they say, they've had it so good for so long they simply can't imagine anything else.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago (7 children)

Oh yeah, people here are living in a serious bubble and they are in for a big shock. They are still in denial about the deindustrialization.

Nobody said Trump would be better, just that it's unconscionable to vote for a party defending and enabling genocide. The goal is simply to not reward genocide with votes. The whole "lesser evil" shtick doesn't work anymore, people see through it.

A review of Banerjee's "Fighting Imperialism and Authoritarian Regimes: Between the Devil and the Deep Sea" (2003) and Salamey's "Hezbollah, Communitarianism, and Anti-Imperialism" (2019).

Highly recommend reading this one as it addresses a ton of bad faith arguments we still see to this day when it comes to actors like Hezbollah, Hamas, etc. Basically a takedown of the western pseudo-left "anti-authoritarian" argument that leftists shouldn't stand in solidarity with global south anti-imperialist forces because they are insufficiently morally pure in some way or another. They do this same shtick when it comes to Russia, Iran, DPRK, and to a certain extent China as well, always conveniently finding some leftist sounding reason to demonize precisely those forces which happen to be the Empire's greatest foes, whether it's that they're insufficiently advanced in social justice causes, or insufficiently secular, or whatever else they need to say to get naive baby leftists to align themselves with the CIA and the State Department. This "compatible left" is and has been for a long time the greatest obstacle to real revolutionary movements in the West. So long as this chauvinism and this tailing of liberal Empire propaganda infects it, the western left will continue to be, by and large, little more than larpy liberals.

A reminder of the unparalleled advances in public health made by communist states. Even if every absurd fabrication that the anti-communist propagandists like to parrot about the millions supposedly killed by Stalin, Mao, etc. was true, those numbers would pale in comparison to the number of lives they saved, the hundreds of millions of life spans extended by entire decades. And if you want the perfect control sample of what it looks like when you start with nearly identical conditions but don't have communist central planning, look at India.

Hizbullah's Media Relations Office organised a tour of Beirut's southern suburb (Dahieh), to give the world a glimpse of the mass destruction of civilian infrastructure as a result of Zionist (Israeli) indiscriminate bombardment of the area. Laith Marouf and Dr Mohammad Marandi, along with Hadi Hotait behind camera, joined the tour and commented on what they saw, the retaliation of Iran, Hizbullah repelling invading forces, and the coming expansion of the war.

"We denounce and condemn the genocide that the government of Israel and its First World allies have committed, are committing and continue to commit against the glorious Palestinian people, against the brave people of Lebanon and against so many other brave, courageous and dignified peoples who refuse to submit themselves to brutality.

We do not and will not keep quiet. We denounce and condemn the aggressions against Syria, Iran, and so many other great and fighting brotherly peoples in all continents.

We do not and will not keep quiet. We denounce and condemn the occupation and usurpation of the rights of peoples and countries such as Haiti.

We do not and will not keep quiet. We denounce and condemn the systematic policy of extermination of cultures and rights that the colonial and imperialist powers maintain against peoples, governments and countries such as Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia and Nicaragua."

Patria o Muerte ¡Venceremos!

In the wake of the most recent Zionist attacks on Lebanon i have been disappointed to notice an uptick in comrades both here and on Hexbear who are not able to put these events into proper context and are instead allowing their emotions to overwhelm their logic. In times like these one must take a step back and look at the bigger picture, and for goodness's sake stop taking Zionist propaganda at face value.

I think it is worth reading what this article quotes Dugin as saying, because literally every single thing he says in his response to these events is the wrong conclusion to draw from what has happened. Unfortunately some of what a few comrades have written in recent news threads is beginning to sound exactly like Dugin, completely misinterpreting what is happening as the Zionist entity "winning" rather than signs of its terminal desperation, making the mistake of drawing the conclusion that in order to win a war you must behave like the Zionists, and assuming that if the Resistance does not respond with in some big and aggressive way that means they must be losing.

I have also read takes very similar to Dugin's on the Ukraine conflict, also claiming after every hollow Kiev Junta propaganda victory that Russia must escalate in order not to allow itself to be "humiliated". Yet when the dust has settled we have consistently seen that the patient approach has been the successful one, Russia is now in a better position diplomatically, militarily and economically than when it started while the crimes of the Zionists have not brought them any closer to victory. Every leader of the Resistance they martyr brings countless more fighters to its ranks. Every atrocity they commit further isolates them on the world stage. Their economy is imploding and no amount of crimes against humanity will reverse that. They are doing nothing but digging their own grave.

The 294-meter Flying Fish 1 traveled from St. Petersburg to Shanghai in just over three weeks, cutting two weeks off the traditional route via the Suez Canal.

This marks a major milestone for Arctic shipping, with nearly 20 transits expected this year, connecting Russian and Chinese ports through the Northern Sea Route.

The ship, operated by EZ Safetrans Logistics, maintained a steady speed without icebreaker assistance, highlighting how much Arctic conditions have changed.

This news may seem mundane but actually it's pretty historic. Russia and China now have a huge logistical and competitive economic advantage. This transit corridor is only going to grow in throughput volume in coming years. And most importantly it cannot be (easily) blocked by the Western imperialists like the southern straits and canals can.

So the Zionist entity brought Chinese influencers to Israel on a promotional trip, to create a positive image of "Israel" in China… but it seems they invited the wrong guy.
