I fucking inhaled "Sisters of Dorley" what an amazing piece of trans fiction about the healing power of forcefem(as a solution to toxic masculinty). Not in a erotic way, it's a very non-horny story.

It is a really beautiful work about feminity, being trans, found family and what it means to grow and change as a person.

But no joke, it is actually really good, and in fact so good that it gave me a bunch of motivation to progress with my own transition, because being women and being trans and transitioning brings the characters so much happiness. It is just so uplifting to read.

I read it all on sunday and today, I almost forgot to eat and drink on sunday, because I simply couldn't stop reading.

I beg anyone here to read it, it's unbelievably good. I think it's now a permanent part of my personality. I'm completly dorleypilled. And I willl probably never recommend it to cis people, I don't think they would like it.

Now I am going to read it again from the start, and also pre-order the paperback

And I willl probably never recommend it to cis people,

Sometimes I do get mildly concerned at the trans lit that cis people are reading

[–] [email protected] 12 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I think internalized cisnormativity, and possibly transphobia(being generous here) keeps them from the actually good positive stuff. Cause they are unwilling or unable to understand it, to see the joy in being trans.

So they read these stories about how being trans is suffering (my assesment of cis literature about trans people)

[–] [email protected] 9 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I agree with this generally, and I've discussed with users (u/bubbalu) that cis people also do it for the same reasons as a book like A Little Life: the spectacle of torture porn. Even if a book like Manhunt isn't just mindless suffering, the cis can always just ignore that and not engage with the deeper themes about trauma, and enjoy the "show". Down with cis btw.

I never got torture porn, the closest I got was a french novel about aristocrats being awful to each other, because they were bored, and because they could. It at least hated men and the nobility, and had stuff to say about that. But if it was just suffering it would have not just been difficult, but also mindlessly boring.

The cis love to read/watch/consume misery so they can feel good then go on social media and crow about it. Boys don't cry would be a good example

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Boys don't cry

Wow, what a horrible little movie, made by a cis-woman, with the trans-man also played by a cis-women.

Also such a boring and surface level way to engage with trans-masculinity. (I haven't and won't watch the movie, this is completly vibes based)

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 months ago

Exactly it's a terrible movie. I already took psychic damage years ago watching The Crying Game.. Then all the subsequent jokes and bad rep through the 90s which probably killed any want of seeking rep out of me.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Yeah it's supposed to be about emotional catharsis, but I get that more from considered engagement with trauma, not watching say, a gay dude with a history of SV get hit by a car, or a guy have a live scorpion deposited in his stomach, judt weird shit.

You speak of Salo: The 120 Days of Sodom, right? Kinda based when you put it like that lol

No actually, I forgot the name, but is was an old (18th to 19th century, probably) letter novel, set before the french revolution. The protagonist seduces a woman out of boredom and completly ruins her life to entertain himself. Everyone in that novel is a garbage heap of a person

Ahhhh, if only it weren't straight that almost sounds funny :>

[thinkin rlly hard] lea-think You could make that as much a commentary about ruling classes as a deranged commentary assimilationism and pinkwashing... it would be fuckin sick, like the terf bits in Tell Me I'm Worthless but good...

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 months ago

I started reading this yesterday and it's so good. I'm 8 chapters in now. Thanks for the recommendation.

Sorry, not Sorry. Happy that I could share the experience.

It has a very similar effect on me. Since I read it, I actually started doing a light skincare routine. And putting effort in my outfits.
