Definitely seems that way a lot of the at time. Saw a comment like yesterday (on a different LGBT+ com) defending JBP from being called a "she" when Peterson says that they don't want to be called "cis" by claiming we don't respect people's self-identity or whatever (and probably a couple other comments that essentially said the same thing). Like so what? Of course we don't respect his identity. His identity is just transphobia. We have no reason to respect that and the complaint just seems like an excuse to promote his transphobia while thinking you are being sneaky enough about it to avoid a ban (which probably was the case in the more lib LGBT+ coms on lemmy).
OTOH, gender essentialism applied to clothing and mocking others for challenging it just makes it harder for eggs to be willing to explore or express themselves imo. I don't think most egg jokes do that, but some seem to. For me, it was pronouns that I thought I wasn't allowed to change because I felt like "they/them is for enbies and I'm technically cis :(". Seeing more "cis" people adopting pronouns other than those assigned to them would have helped challenge those brainworms.
