My man keeps getting vindicated by the winds of history, but like the mythical Cassandra, no-one listens to him

Damn the British have fancy protest sign fonts

[-] [email protected] 34 points 1 week ago

"Hey Jezza, can you write a short and snappy sign for the apartheid protest?"

During the first interview by the mainstream media after his victory, he mentioned the genocide against the Palestinians and talked about recognizing the state of Palestine. I love this man. palestine-heart

[-] [email protected] 12 points 1 week ago

I love this man with my entire soul

Jezza got 49.2% of the vote compared to 64.3% last time.

The red Tory candidate trying to spoil it for Corbyn got 34.4%

[-] [email protected] 36 points 1 week ago

Wasn't even close.

Even in 2017-2020 before Bernie dropped out, I always liked Corbyn more.

He really should’ve lent his weight to a new party but at least he did better than sheepdog Bernie

Its hard to win against someone who actually goes outside and talks to his constituency. Not a single one of my local MPs did shit all campaigning they don't care.

Someone make him god emperor already

[-] [email protected] 25 points 1 week ago

It is a lot harder to convince people who have seen and interacted with him in real life of the demonisation that the British press has ran on him since he became Labour leader. He is one of the few MPs that legitimately seems to care about his constituents rather than just seeing them as a means to an end.

Mandelson seething was great to hear. Labour wasted a lot of resources trying to unseat Corbyn. Not that it is a big comfort with 5 more years of Tory rule followed up by an inevitable far right landslide when reform and the conservatives consolidate again. Only reason that Labour won is because the Tories were finally allowed to collapse when the alternative was a continuation of their policies, vote share for Labour was about the same as the 2019 election.

[-] [email protected] 30 points 1 week ago

Next step. Take over Labour. sicko-wistful

Jordefroy Corbnies

[-] [email protected] 12 points 1 week ago

Can someone explain why he didn't run a party instead of independent? I don't understand UK politics, but if he had started a party, couldn't he have gotten more people like him in MP seats across the country?

[-] [email protected] 18 points 1 week ago

Corbyn was only expelled from Labour in May. Now that he's reelected, there's more time to start a party

[-] [email protected] 14 points 1 week ago

This may? Wild, thought it happened right after he got ousted from leadership

[-] [email protected] 16 points 1 week ago

He had the whip removed then so he wasn't part of the parliamentary labour party. He was only expelled from the actual party after he chose to stand as an independent against the labour candidate.

Can someone explain to this burgerlander what the hype is? I only know burger and fry politics not banger and mash politics.

Jeremy Corbyn is anti zionist. Was viciously Red Scared by state media while running for Prime Minister (President) and then smeared as an anti semite for consistently having empathy for the Palestinians. Is akin to our Bernie if Bernie remembered his spine. Populist left and drew crowds like Bernie. He didn't back down. Was purged from Labour and then ran independent in his own district and won. So he's back in Parliament (congress).

Hype song

In addition to what @[email protected] said, it's worth mentioning that when he was the leader of the Labour party, it was extremely active with the membership. It grew to roughly ~600,000 members, the largest political party in Europe. Their policies were things like nationalising industries, forcing companies to have employee representatives on the boards of directors, and other socialist-leaning things.

But, since the core of Western countries is build on anti-communism, the ruling class could not tolerate that. Corbyn was far too generous and refused to purge the reactionary elements from within Labour, and when he lost the federal election (in no small part due to sabotage from within his own party as well as the baseless smear campaign against him), Kier Starmer - a man who believes in nothing - took over, and then Corbyn was himself purged along with the rest of the left-wing elements within the party.

[-] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

It should also be noted that Corbyn had a larger share of votes and almost 3 million more raw votes than starmer just swept the country on.
