I splurge on the slightly more expensive imported ones from my local Asian supermarket, I stir fry some veggies and maybe add a boiled egg to round it out to a meal

Edit: love the cheap ones too, they had my back when no other food did

Have you tried an egg drop? Literally just scramble an egg and pour it in the broth while it's cooking.

I'll have to try that the next time I make a more soupy noodles pack, thanks for the tip!

SHIN RAMYUN

Chop dehydrated shiitakes and toss in while cooking. Towards the end crack an egg into the ramen, turn the heat off and put the lid on to cook the egg. So fucking good

I live near an asian supermarket and got spoiled on fancy ramens.

Anything with this dude on it is gonna be delicious.

My man Hon never lets me down.

I like to pour the finished soup over fresh veggies, usually sugar peas and green onion (though sometimes little pieces of broccoli or carrot). Also I like to season it with extra garlic and black pepper, sometimes finely powdered jalapeno or chipotles. BEHOLD!

Omg that looks delicious soviet-bashful

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago (3 children)

As far as I am aware it is poison like the food equivalent of cigarettes

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 month ago

Will remember this post while I'm eating Buldak later 07

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

(Theo Von voice) What do they put in this ramen, cigarettes?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

Stop making cigarettes sound good!

Jk lol

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago

Maruchan or bust

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

So much salt but so good.......

I'm gonna buy some of that ramen illegal in Denmark for being too spicy later lol

Really love how it has become cheaper or something to use chemical slurries than actual meat or animal products in instant noodles, I mean this genuinely

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

Try Carbo Buldak, it's a game changer.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago

Can't fuck with the soupy instant ramen anymore. The creamy ones like nissin soba or the buldak ones are a good once in a while snack you can keep in your pantry

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago

Only bottom-speak ramen for me please

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago

frozen corn is goated to add to ramen

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Used to prefer shin ramyun or even maruchan but both have meat products in em so I can't nowadays πŸ˜”

At least you can get top ramen that doesn't

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Shin has a vegan ramen. I have like 10 boxes in my pantry.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

Had it as a kid but don't really eat it now

Ive learned recently how easy it is to make noodles with stir fried vegetables. I base it off of chow mein but add whole wheat noodles. You cant get the same texture from frying the noodles when theyre whole wheat. But thats fine because it removes a step.

I make a sauce with 1 part oyster sauce, and 2 parts each of soy sauce and gochujang, plus a small amount of whole seed mustard. Plus garlic powder because im lazy.

I stir fry the white parts of the green onion, cabbage, and carrot in toasted sesame oil. Then garnish with the green green onion.

Its not as fast as instant but its still quick and cheap. And its wayyy healthier.

When ive made instant noodles in broth ive enjoyed adding okra.

Used to be a maruchan head. Wife introduced me to some truly incredible and cheap ramen options.

Check out Nissin black garlic oil tonkotsu pork or Prima Singapore curry la Mian. These have been some faves lately.

It sure is ramen

They got me through college, but Ramyeon destroys Top Ramen. It isn't close. I love Carbo Buldak, Odongtong, and Jajangramyeon. Plus, Nengramyeon is fantastic in the summer.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

Put some peanut butter and Sriracha in the oriental I mean soy sauce flavor. You're welcome.

Same brand as Shin which is also good. They have another called chapaghetti which is a more noodles in brown sauce deal. In Korea its a "ghetto-hack" to mix Neoguri and Chapaghetti to make "Chapaguri". Kind of like putting a McChicken inside of a McDouble.

As far as soup noodles, I prefer Maruchan or Shin noodles. If other noodle styles are on the table, IndoMie Mi Goreng is a delicious comfort food. I sometimes throw a can of tuna (spend the extra 50 cents to get it in olive oil) on top if I need to make it a meal.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Get your ass some Korean ramyeon and never look back

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

I'm a convert to just noodles being >>> soup and noodles thanks to the Indomie line and other Mi Goreng variants. So, so good and flavorful.

Ramen got me through lean high school years. Nuts to think about how Ramen went from 10/$1 to 4/$1, then 3, now two for a buck.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

You can get top ramen beef and chicken five packs for 1.25 at dollar tree

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

there has been times I've forgotten they exist and there has been times I've pretty much had to live on em

I have a soft spot for cheap ramen in general I suppose. it's better when you can add things like vegetables or an egg to it

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

I prefer Maruchan, it tastes better to me. I've been experimenting with adding pinto beans & tomatoes to it, and sometimes broccoli.
