Space Dandy
Dragon Ball Z Abridged
Kaguya: love is war
Afro Samurai: it has fucking Samuel L Jackson
It's a kinda mid OVA, but definitely more fun with Sam Jackson. Good call!
Afro Samurai: it has fucking Samuel L Jackson
This anime has got to be the most over hyped anime.
Cowboy Bebop and Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt
Edit: also Cyberpunk Edgerunners
Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo. Ghost in the Shell - Standalone Complex. My Hero Academia has a good dub, though I'm mixed on the series itself
Ghost in the Shell SAC has a really good dub.
Anything Adult Swim is usually good, I remember liking Space Dandy
Hellsing Ultimate is fantastic in both languages. The dub goes in on the accents which works really well for the cartoonishly evil Nazis, it's a bit like Indiana Jones. The Japanese VA is insanely good though so you can really go either way
FMA:B and Frieren both are great in dub. Kaguya-sama has an absolutely fantastic dub narrator. Most romcom dubs really detract from the show but that is an exception.
The Kaguya-sama dub is good, but having watched the entire series in both Japanese and English (in that order) the narrator is actually the one thing I could never get used to—I prefer the mostly played-straight Japanese narration to the jokey American narration, since I think it fits more with the overall tone of the series where the silliness of the "war" is heightened by the melodramatic acting, direction, and music. That being said, the friends I watched the dub with similarly pointed to the narrator as one of their favorite things about the show, so I seem to be in the minority here, and obviously my opinion is colored by having watched the sub first.
Yeah, I agree with everything you said and given the votes you might not be in the minority with that opinion. I see the jokey melodrama as the heart of that show so the narrator adds to it for me.
Delicious in Dungeon has excellent English localization.
Corey in the House
But not it's predecessor, That's So Raven. That one is better in the original Japanese.
I think a lot of the answers are "stuff I saw on Toonami or Adult Swim and Ghibli movies" lol
That said, I like the English dubs of The Big O, Cowboy Bebop, and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex quite a bit.
I'm fond of the G Gundam and Mobile Suit Gundam (TV) English dubs, but I prefer the original Japanese voices.
How the heck has nobody mentioned Lupin III yet?!
I've only seen one dub and it was ghost stories. I wouldn't say I loved it tho, I was too baked to know what I was experiencing
I like them about equally, but JoJo does a great job in both sub and dub. In part six, the only thing winning me over on the subbed side in White Snake's VA work. Otherwise Netflix knocked it out of the park on every other voice.
Ghost stories. The Japanese version flopped. So they allowed the dub a lot of freedom. It was used :)
That's actually a myth (it was quite successful in Japan), but a widely circulated one so I don't blame you. Textbook example of "a lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes."

The rabbit episode is amazing. Almost every single line of dialogue is comedy gold.
The Promised Neverland had some good dubbing. As someone who normally dislikes dubs, I think they captured the personalities well, even if the main characters are children. (Just prepare for the end of Season 2 to be disappointing).
My classic go-to's are usually DBZ/DBS, Cowboy Bebop, Space Dandy, Samurai Champloo, FMA:B, and Trigun. Some people like the Jojo and HxH dubs but I've only ever watched them subbed.
I thought the AoT dub was decent, but it's AoT and therefore you shouldn't watch it lol
If you're looking for movies, the Ghibli catalogue usually have very good dubs. I'm a fan of the Princess Mononoke and Porco Rosso dubs myself.
yu yu hakusho, I think is probably better dubbed.
YU GI OH the american dub is unmatched
gurren lagann's dub is really good
Cowboy Bebop, Kaguya, and Steins;gate all have really good dubs. Castle in the Sky has a very strange dub, where it adds in music where there was none and changes some synthy bits that don't really fit to more traditional orchestral.
The Spy x Family dub is solid, the voice of Anya is fucking adorable
Vineland Saga has a great dub. There's actually two dubs--I watched the Sentai dub (the one on the Blu-rays), so I can't comment on the Netflix one. They both seem to be praised, though.
I switched from subs to dubs (whenever the option is available) years ago and a this point I couldn't tell you there's any difference in "quality", it's just a different way of watching the show, do you want to watch a show where people speak like cartoon characters but you don't recognize it because you don't speak the language and also you gotta read subtitles or do you want to watch a show where people speak like cartoon characters and you can recognize it because you speak english and it will be cringe until it's not anymore.
Anyway Delicious in Dungeon was really good, Frieren I didn't watch but I saw that they gave her a deep voice in the dub and that's 10000% better than a young sounding voice for that character. Cowboy Bebop is famous for it's superior dub. If you liked Dragon Ball you can pick one of the modern Fight/Battle animes like Demon Slayer, JJK or Mha.
There's "March comes in like a lion" which is a drama about a kid who plays Shogi, which also has a great dub
Frieren I didn't watch but I saw that they gave her a deep voice in the dub and that's 10000% better than a young sounding voice for that character.
She has a pretty deep voice in both
yeah I mean, modern shows that are being made with dubs in mind, or at least are actually having decent resources put into dubbing, are fine
but even with animation dubs aren't usually perfect. live action is where I draw the line of "absolutely not". Netflix has been doing this thing where they make or distribute a live action show and then dub it in 10 different languages and like...

I got good results out of the Evangelion dub
Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya has a dub that picked actors that sounded really similar to their Japanese counterparts and adapted a lot of the casual thoughts of the main character pretty well. I wish more dubs would hew closer to how they Japanese show does since that's usually the original version and they usually made their decisions for reasons pertinent to the show alongside the directors. I don't get why they feel the need to brag about not basing anything on the Japanese version outside the translation.
Also Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust since that was actually released in English first. There are a few other anime that actually got dubbed first. I hear Armitage III: Poly-Matrix has a good dub.

Vision of Escaflowne is an oldie but goodie. Dilandau's VA is particularly fun.
The classic El-Hazard OVA.
im about to piss some weebs off but if you dont speak japanese there is literally no reason not to watch dubs over subs if you dont feel like reading or the subs make it harder to follow etc
anime characters aren’t real people so its not the same as watching a dubbed live action film where the actor said something a specific way with a specific inflection in their voice and a specific emotion on their face
whether its the japanese OVA or the american english dub some anime character going “awaaahhh!!!” is gonna be cringe regardless. its campy in both languages. english only speakers who act like dubs are inferior to subs are literally just neckbeards who want to feel superior about some dumb cartoon
yes, many times the translations could effect the flow of the story or there could be mistranslations or whatever else, but at the end of the day, you’re watching a cartoon and you’re getting the story mostly how it was meant to be told
with that being said watch the ghost stories dub because its specifically horrible in the best way (the actors were allowed to just wing it basically and its hilarious)
