Another thing against the generation shit: most of them are based on white western mostly anglo speakers of that generation, the definition of gen z fits mostly white middle class Americans, "the generation the grew up on phones" only in the west the rest of them in the third world didn't, even when being critical of things some will say "most of gen z lingo is stolen from AAL" as in white people taking slang from African Americans, when people say gen z they don't include black people born from 1995 to 2010. Boomers aren't inherently racist Trump supporters, Xoomers aren't inherently centrist edgelords, mellenials aren't inherently Harry potter avocado hillary clinton, these are white features not generational features.

Official Title of this Community: Ethnic Minorities and People of Color
Why is the title different?
We like to have fun here.
What is this place? A safe space for underrepresented peoples and peoples of color to talk, chill, and vibe.
What are the basic rules of the community?
-
Follow Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines. Non negotiable. This is the bedrock and mods will make decisions with this always in mind.
-
This community is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This is a safe space where such people can freely discuss their struggles, insight, and thoughts without fear. If you are not, we respectfully ask you do not post or comment here. A future community will be established to allow for racial discussions with a mixed userbase. However, remember, comments here must still respect Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines.
-
Irony Racism is still racism. Racism is bad m'kay? We will treat irony racism and bad faith racist satire as racism. Will wield the ban hammer accordingly.
-
No sectarianism: This is an identity channel not a channel for you all to complain about why XYZ isn't the "one true leftism". Take that to another place.
-
Stupidpol is not allowed. Stupidpol is class reductionist. We are an identity community. Thinking like stupidpol ignores the struggles of the oppressed, their voices, and their need for unique support. Nothing says oppression more than someone saying that the identity you have is "not real" and that if you only thought like them you'd see what your "real" identity is. Mods reserve the right to ban users and content who promote stupidpol, stupidpol memes, and other class reductionist thinking.
FAQ
I don't look XYZ and/or sometimes I can pass as white so I don't know if I can post here. Can I?
-
This place is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This includes those of mixed heritage and those who may be "white" but are of an ethnicity that is a minority in their area (i.e. Kurds, etc) If you've experienced oppression due to your identity that is not based on sexual / gender identification, you are welcome here.
-
Moreover, for our American audience, we have people from around the world who are "white" but are oppressed due to being a minority in their country. They are and should be welcomed here.
What can I post?
- Anything you think is relevant to the mission of this community. Things will evolve over time.
- Topics and things relevant to EM and POC.

A lot of black Boomers straight-up took bullets for civil rights or shot klansman and cops. It's often overlooked in generational discourse.
Something that really hit home for me listening to Good Kid, m.A.A.d. City was that I'm around the same age as Kendrick Lamar and yet his experiences of the '90s were awful. I've known about the Rodney King riots because I was alive at the time, but GKmC put it into perspective there were people whose childhoods were affected by those same riots. Columbine was a shock, as well as the Oklahoma City Bombing, but it doesn't compare living in a place at the height of the Blood-Crips feud.
My point is how it's utterly bizarre generations get lumped together while ignoring other factors. Kids who grew up in Compton in the '80s and '90s have more in common with kids who grew up in New York during the 1920s and '30s than they do with kids the same age who grew up in suburbs. Lumping generations together like this seems bad for even capitalists. They're leaving money on the table when they market products towards a generation without considering how different experiences can be within that generation.

this is what me think of this.
these are white features not generational features.
Too bad, because who's got the media infrastructure and English language to dominate the Anglophone conversation, the
Pretty much. I’ve heard younger Indians and Saudis refer to their older generations as “boomers.” Even Russian liberals call the generation nostalgic for the USSR “boomers.”
Just saw the phrase "no n word November"
I think we're in actual hell
Are the s okay?
The implication that they're only doing it for the month...
Perhaps they'd like No noggin November better

okay okay okay my last rant, I remember sometime when I was a kid, idk how old I was, but I remember seeing a post talking about the myth of camel spiders in Iraqi and how Americans used it to gain sympathy for their soldiers, and the first thing I thought of was "Iraqis and by extension we aren't humans to these people", they show this hoax of a big ass spider that apparently eats people or something in Iraq and they used it to say "oooh our poor wittle twoops" instead of having sympathy towards the Iraqi people for dealing with them, or idk better yet THE AMERICAN SOLDIERS MURDERING RAPING AND TORTURING THEM.
okay okay okay my last rant

This is the only comm on Hexbear where I can expect it to be pretty much completely free of garbage. Some things may fall through the cracKKKs every now and then, but, y'know, I fix it real quick.
Did something happen on here?
people typed
That would do it
Going to the clinic soon because I hit my head
Thanks
Ow... good well, soon, Compy
Oh nooo, hopefully it turns out alright
I do not want to go to class tomorrow…
I'm way too cool for school
Good luck, comrade
I have similar vibes too as well
Well they already normalise killing brown people abroad. May as well normalize kkk outfits. There's barely any black people in canada and they're going absolutely stupid over indian immigrants there. Brain rot https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/kkk-halloween-far-right-extremism-growth-atlantic-canada-research-1.7378798?utm_source=fark&utm_medium=website&utm_content=link&ICID=ref_fark
holy shit death to kkkanada
KKKlanada, as of de rigeur...
Instead of New Afrikans and East-Asians, they have mainly refined hate against South-Asians, and Indigenous Peoples...
I did a 40km day hike last week, a personal record.
Wasn’t even intentional, but the path I was supposed to take was closed because of a landslip and had to take a detour and just decided to walk back instead of using the bus.
Pretty happy about that.
And I have been managing my anxiety quite well lately too so can’t complain.
How are all my comrades doing?
Alhamdulillah things are looking up in my life.
stressed. but i went to a ren fair yesterday.
