Did anyone pick a new name that's not English? How did you go about it? Don't want to commit cultural appropriation or get a name from a culture I have no clue about, and English names sound bad in other languages most of the time in my experience
Yeah, I'm not english
I'm not either, just have problems finding something I like and anything I like is in English
idk, just look at baby names
so like my name is english but i have a lot of chinese friends and they gave me a chinese name that sounds a bit like mine but is fairly common in china. in general if you end up living in a new country thats got a culture, writing, and pronunciation system thats very different from yours i think most people find it acceptable for you to pick a new name
that's cool^^
yeah probably the case, I'm not that multicultural yet
I picked a name from my native language, but it's pretty close to an English name that I've used with foreign friends.
Could try that, I'm just weird with names I suppose, I don't pay them any attention with regards to myself
None of my names are English, but all of them are from a language I do speak. 2 Italian 2 French. Or well, one of the Italian ones (my actual name) is debatable if it's Italian in origin or not. It's very common for English speakers too.
Need to finally learn Spanish and other languages ๐ motivation is low
I just happened to have the luck to be in situations where I had to learn these 3, my attempts at self-teaching languages have gone far worse ~~I'll figure out Japanese eventually...~~
I got the hang of Russian, even if I love the language I lack the motivation to further persevere, maybe it's depression idk
Russian has a lot of lovely names you could pick! I wish I gave myself one Serbo-Croat name in addition to my French and Italian ones. I guess I could swap out the one I don't like as much anymore ๐ค
Hmm true, I'll check that out, thank you
I don't think anybody's gonna get mad if you pick a French or German name
