I'm thinking about leasing a new car. My car is done, 13 years old, not worth even changing the oil. The brakes are gone, the passenger front tire leaks constantly (I've rotated the tired plenty of times, this is the 3rd new set that's been on it it's always that one tire).
I'm planning on moving to a city with half-decent transit the next couple years. Hence leasing instead of buying. When I lived in the city, I had a car but didn't need it ever - I just took the train and the bus. Mostly my ex drove it to their work. We lived near a grocery story and not far from our other friends.
I guess it depends on the car and other circumstances but in my world a 13 year old car that only needs a brake job and one new rim or valve stem or something is like, probably still too nice for me lmao, let alone worth tossing out. I've never paid more than $1500 for one, though some of those have needed some work done
I used to buy used but all the used cars are the same price as new or too expensive for what they are. I'm not paying $15K for a 2016 with 80K miles. I'm used to shelling out $5K for a used car.
It's not just pads that need changing, it's completely fucked. The brakes are done, American made and I cant justify dumping thousands to figure it out and fix it. It was limping last winter and that was supposed to be the last winter I had with it after I started my new job. I dunno what's the deal with any tire in that one specific slot, when I rototate the tire that was there it doesn't have a leak one the new spor and the one I moved to it all of a sudden does. The rims are new too (new as in from 2 years ago lol). It's always been like this, doesn't matter the tire or the rim, it's always the passenger front side tire that gets a leak.
