it is just a torture facility, nothing else.
I have a family member that was a corrections officer and I can corroborate that. They straight get off on it too. I remember him telling me gleefully about how they all ganged up on this one guy that pissed them off for some reason, idk if he struck one of the officers or just mouthed off back at them or something, but he basically described a gang of them beating his ass in his cell.
prison guards might be the most thoroughly inhuman group on this planet. even some regular cops are otherwise "good people" who probably don't stay cops for very long. but i dont think ive ever heard of a prison guard who wasn't a sadistic piece of completely irredeemable shit
Prison guards don't have any of the propaganda that occasionally tricks someone not-shitty into joining them. Everyone knows they suck, and only shitty people apply for the job.
I have known a few corrections officers that were just milking the clock in one of the few ways a person can to get by. They talked about trying to treat their charges well and just keep their heads down. Still bastwards for not burning the place down but what can you do
I admit that I only knew one. He was a family friend that had some very shitty tendencies. He stopped being a prison guard some time after he apparently got the shit kicked out of him by some inmates. When I learned about it I said "probably deserved it"

I have a family member who quit his job as a correctional officer after just a few months due to how his colleagues were treating the inmates. He went to work at a homeless shelter instead and became a pillar of the community to the point of being the only one to manage a rapport with some of the addicts and what not 😎

this exact scenario has been a recurring nightmare of mine for years actually, my dad was in corrections and gave me both a fear of jail and car stuff
my immediate suggested course of action is to drive as little as possible, fuck car

Cops are fucking pathetic. Reminds me of the tweets UK police would make about shit they confiscated and one of them was literally just candy. They confiscated candy from some people who have a "suspiciously large amount"

I only went to jail once and I was blackout drunk until the bastards tackled me and slammed me to the ground. Sobered me up enough to remember the experience while still being a belligerent asshole to everyone there. Lucky for me I got out the next morning with my dad posting bail.
The worst part was getting a lawyer and having him make me read the police report expecting me to be horrified at the fact I publicly urinated outside a bar. Yeah such a crime deserves to be tackled and locked away for 12 hours. I complied with the bootlicking lawyer and he got me pre-trial intervention, 2 group therapy sessions and 80 hours of community service later it’s off my record. And some fines. Another way to keep working folks down.

That fucking sucks man. Reminds me that the tags on my motorcycle are out of date even though I renewed my registration on time - replacement just hasn't arrived in the mail, even though the replacement sticker for my car already showed up and I ordered both at the same time.
That's notna criminal offense where I am and jail time for expired plates is simply not a thing. You could get your car impounded and probably s hefty fine but there isn't a chance in hell you'd see a jail cell, that's insane.
so things happened in this order
get ticket for expired tags month ago > try to pay it but their system does not show me the ticket (system sucks ass) > forget about ticket > they send the reminder to the wrong address > ticket becomes "failure to appear" because I have not paid it > i stupidly think the ticket was dropped or something > judge signs warrant which is sent to wrong address > i'm driving a bit, get pulled over for expired tags again (i forgor and barely drive) > i am surprised to learn I have a warrant, they cuff me, and extradite me 90 miles away to the town i was originally pulled over in
so it technically wasn't for expired tags, it was for not paying a ticket or not going to court

thats super fucked up, I'm really sorry that happened to you. Did you get pulled over specifically because of the expired tags? I've had to drive around with expired tags before and I was sooo nervous and careful about how I drove and would just think to myself, "only break one law at a time"
