Anyway, Lemmy turning into Reddit would be bad.

That's what .world is for - it's a containment instance that is slowly defederating from everyone else. Soon the ledditors will have their own little walled garden where they can narwal the bacon at midnight or whatever the fuck ๐Ÿ˜’

[โ€“] [email protected] 53 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (2 children)

I actually just defedded myself from Lemmy.world after being reminded they're doing some shit with Facebook andthe got rid of their largest piracy community. They can keep .world, most of the shittiest takes came from there (but don't worry i haven't forgotten about you guys .dbzer0 and .reddthat, you're cesspits too) The absolute last straw was somebody from .world replying to me unironically with "who hurt you?"

[โ€“] [email protected] 39 points 5 months ago (2 children)

dbzer0

To be fair, while there's a clique including the owner that is remarkably shitty ("Stalin not giving enough support to the disorganized leftists in Spain is the same as him sending the Red Army to kill them, QED marxism is evil"), the majority of users from this instance are pretty cool.

[โ€“] [email protected] 35 points 5 months ago (2 children)

I basically only interact with hexbear posts I just don't feel like making another account plz let me live

[โ€“] [email protected] 29 points 5 months ago (1 children)

that the one with the pretty active piracy instance? because the pirate people are cool

[โ€“] [email protected] 20 points 5 months ago

I certainly have nothing against piracy and, like I said, I think most of the userbase is cool

[โ€“] [email protected] 26 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I read this on another post? What are they doing with Fb? Are we an ActivityPub protocol? I legitimately think we should federate and sabotage Meta. It'd be hilarious.

[โ€“] [email protected] 29 points 5 months ago (1 children)

while specifically being defederated by meta would be peak, i don't think it's worth the risk of having facebook users coming into spaces that are meant for trans people.

[โ€“] [email protected] 25 points 5 months ago

It'd be hilarious if we got a news article on CNN about us or something over bullying zuck

[โ€“] [email protected] 39 points 5 months ago

Oh thank god wholesome

[โ€“] [email protected] 53 points 5 months ago (5 children)

Literally everyone on this site is a Redditor and it's funny how y'all try so desperately to claim otherwise. "no, no I'M NOT A REDDITOR" angry-hex

[โ€“] [email protected] 35 points 5 months ago

I used to be a redditor, but I got better. exactly the same as how I was a dirty channer, but I got better. ๐Ÿ’…

[โ€“] [email protected] 28 points 5 months ago

The point is to purge the most malevolently crackerish of the redditisms out of ourselves, not perpetuate the loop ala the containment instances.

[โ€“] [email protected] 22 points 5 months ago

i'm not. tried to be, but they kept banning me for being too cool.

[โ€“] [email protected] 21 points 5 months ago

Kill the redditor, save the man.

[โ€“] [email protected] 13 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Shhh you'll ruin the bit

[โ€“] [email protected] 48 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I think lemmy having libs is beneficial to us, because they are systemically in an uphill position in an instance mainly moderated by communists. The real engine of bad takes are from the "mutuals" we have with lemmy like .world and co. I think strategically the best option is to go after instances that aren't federated with us rather than those that are. I don't think there's any benefit to letting red scare instances fester, and r/cth demonstrated how easy it is to cow rightists.

[โ€“] [email protected] 32 points 5 months ago (1 children)

What I think is fascinating is the handful of people posting leftist memes to .world. Feels like lemmy has a critical mass of leftists that even when you try to make an extremely liberal space it still spills in

[โ€“] [email protected] 22 points 5 months ago

The question then, I suppose, is how many of those leftists are like us and how many are "Compatible Leftists" that are fundamentally non-threatening to liberals. Liberals typically love Chomsky types that let them feel like they engage in radical discourse while fundamentally failing to challenge power.

[โ€“] [email protected] 45 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I've been saying this.

Purge Reddit users. Execute Reddit mods.

[โ€“] [email protected] 38 points 5 months ago

"I was one of the good Reddit mods"

No you weren't.

[โ€“] [email protected] 44 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I miss the 2 or 3 actually good subs on reddit. r/tipofmytongue was a great community, as was r/Stunfisk. But like, the handful of other good subs went private and then the company pushed more of the fasc subs, even though I blocked those multiple times over.

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago (9 children)

Oh look, an unpopular group is jealously trying to pretend it's any different from the more popular group!

Imagine being jealous of a fedora tipping nerd from reddit

[โ€“] [email protected] 34 points 5 months ago

Hey everyone! This nerd doesn't pirate Nintendo games!

[โ€“] [email protected] 32 points 5 months ago

feeling particularly scratched, are we?

[โ€“] [email protected] 28 points 5 months ago

Cringe, prepare for purge

[โ€“] [email protected] 26 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

I'm so jealous of Reddit you have no idea.

I really want to say the bacon narwhals at midnight

I want to spend my money giving digital gold medals to NATO feds

Gosh I wish I was popular. Everyone knows popular equals good, that's why everyone loves Facebook and ~~Twitter~~ ๐• and never complains about them ever.

[โ€“] [email protected] 26 points 5 months ago

@reddthat.com users are so eager to be purged. Look at this one right now stalin-joking

[โ€“] [email protected] 26 points 5 months ago (9 children)

That you have no idea how to get under our skin is probably the most unintentionally funny thing about this comment.
