I have made it through Yakuza 0 and am now on Kiwami.

Friend showed me Manor Lords and I played a bit of it. It's incredibly alpha, 2/3 of the tech tree is coming soon, but it could be the base of something really interesting.

Now back to Create Astral

lord help me but i am booting up battle brothers again

Played some From the Depths, wonderful game. Making a hovercraft with 2 huge railguns and some active defenses. It's really fun watching your defensive turrets evaporate incoming missiles, and your interceptor small missiles cleaning up stragglers.

Hades II- Feels grindier than the first, but I'm starting to get the hang of it.

Ghost of Tsushima- just started this one and it's pretty good so far. Really pretty too.

My brother bought me Super Mario RPG for Christmas but I haven't actually played it until I started my vacation in Seattle. It's fun. Glad I brought my Switch for winding down before bed.

Modded Terraria is so fucking good oh my god. I'm trying to work but my brain is busy thinking about accessory crafting trees and the bosses I still haven't beaten.

I'm not even in hard mode yet and I still got like seven bosses to go

I'm playing Tale of Two Wastelands, a conversion mod that glues FO3 and FNV together and changes some stuff up. I installed a ton of mods on top so it's a smooth experience and everything flows much better. Between looting on hover, removing VATS in favor of bullet time, and removing weights from all items (sorry Bethesda fans but I hate inventory management), the experience is more continuous and immersive. Getting a lot of nostalgia from the Capital Wasteland since I haven't played FO3 since it came out like... 10 years ago? Yeah we'll go with that. Don't correct me I don't wanna know

This is my first ever week on an adderall prescription and I found out the hard way how dangerous it is to mix with video games

Oh and I feel like this image added by a perk mod would make a good emoji with some editing and repositioning

you thought i would jesse-wtf over

removing weights from all items (sorry Bethesda fans but I hate inventory management),

but really i'm jesse-wtf over

removing VATS in favor of bullet time

wtf-am-i-reading warf-wtf

Two correct opinions, carry weight and vats are both bad. My own preferred solutions are player.modav carryweight and just never using vats but bullet time mod sounds interesting.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago (3 children)

vats exists because of the original games and the transition to 3D. the bullet time sounds like what they did in later beth games after losing the plot, and that sucks.

you're not supposed to pick every fucking thing up either lmao. you all having a hoarding problem isn't bad game design.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago

Counterpoint: yes it is

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Personally I thought VATS was around because the actual shooting in F3 and NV was awful.

Infinite carry weight is good, all it does is prevent boring inventory sorting where pencils end up being one of the most profitable items in the game because they have 0 weight.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

if you're gonna do that just type in the caps cheat.

do you never play dead money? cheating carry weight directly undermines the narrative

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I'll give you Dead Money's final vault, but I think that's about the only time it matters? And this is probably just a me thing but I usually don't replay DM (or HH, or LR).

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

that's when it has major narrative purpose. the rest of the time you're simply not meant to be carrying all that trash loot like some hoarder. That stuff is there to make the world not be empty, not for you to have 20 sets of armor and 400 desk fans in your bag

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

Eh the difference between infinite carry weight and not, for me at least, are two things: first, it means I don't have to fast travel to player housing to drop things off or switch loadouts, which is a QoL thing to skip busywork and load screens. Second, it slightly increases the player's economic power but imo the economies of the games are broken easily enough that this isn't really a concern.

VATS made sense in 1 & 2 due to the third-person isometric design. It feels clunky and shoehorned in a first-person setting. The gunplay in vanilla is awful but mods fix that and make it a proper shooter in a way Bethesda can't seem to manage.

I understand the philosophy of carry weights but fiddling with inventories in Beth games has never been engaging to me. And the mods add a lot of new stuff so it compound the problem. What's the point of adding new stuff if you're not picking it up?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

3d fallout's shooting came from bethesda's weird ass rpg gameplay hit to have a chance to roll to hit system, and vats was there as a branch to the people they figured might not want to play a realtime shooter. it's a kludge but it's probably the most clever thing they did.

would you be willing to share your mod list?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

Sure! This is the guide to install TTW

and this is a mod guide with a few hundred compatible mods.

Do everything in the first guide. For the second guide, I would do everything in the Extra Utilities & Fixes and Optimization sections, and then you can pick and choose from the rest. I ended up installing everything but Overhauls. I also installed STARS (armor rehaul mod) which was part of the main guide a couple days ago but has been moved down to the appendix.

Finally tried V Rising, playing it with a friend has been nice and casual fun

My partner and I got back into World of Warcraft, yesterday we finished getting the Dragon Isles Pathfinder achievement

Warhammer 3 Total War. Ive never liked the empire, but I'm trying out the metal-caster Gelt for the first time since he's been moved to Cathay. Super fun campaign mechanics, all focused on wizards and spellcasting. I've allied with both Maio Ying and Zhao Ming, and my roaming wizard deathstack has successfully secured the entirety of the East between the 3 of us, leaving in my wake scores of emulsified ratmen and liquified slaver elves.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago

I'm giving Karl a try since they reworked the Empire mechanics. Its... OK? It feels like the empire doesn't immediately crumble to every threat, but it is a slog economically to confederate while endlessly rescuing hapless Elector Counts. Also Empire units are a bunch of soggy noodles, especially their cavalry. I do appreciate that prestige actually has a use now, so he has that going for it.

Playing Final Fantasy Origins for the psx. Been on another FF kick. I already beat I way back on the GBA when it first released but never did on the playstation. It's a great remake with a bunch of QOL features. I plan on playing the Dragon Quest remakes for the super famicom too.

I love DQ3 SFC. My favorite of the series (that I've actually played anyway)

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago

I'm getting addicted to Baldur's Gate 3, playing my own game and one with my friend. Ended up going with a Dragonborn Rouge for mine, and a Tiefling Paladin with my friend. It's fun, highly reccomend!

I think it's about time I finally tackle Zelda. My BFF is a huge Zelda and Metroid fan and I had shared the Majora's Mask recomp with him, which got me to check it out and play a bit. Now I've decided to finally give the series an honest try. I'm focusing on OoT right now but will probably pick up one of the 2d ones here in a few weeks when I go on vacation to finally give my retro handleld some love.

We are also trying to sell me on playing Metroid and I've tried it a few times in the past but we'll see where it goes.

Just got friends Vs friends and I'm going to play it with someone, it's pretty fun ngl

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

Just got on to Risk Of Rain 2. 3rd person shooter rogue like with meta progression. Still brutally difficult but less so than the first one. Quite free with loot and finding insane synergies is incredibly satisfying. Mechanics are somewhat opaque making a trip to the wiki necessary to get the most out of it, but I'm having a lot of fun.

Grim Dawn, it’s like if Diablo was good. Also checking out the warhammer mmo from my youth, which has the hardest main menu theme https://youtu.be/i_rstI_iym0

Played some Vicky 3 as well! Picked it up on the sale after playing a pirated copy around launch. Somehow they seem to have made the interface worse! Also I'm really noticing that it doesn't seem to be made for 1080 monitors, which is annoying because I have to shrink all the UI elements manually. Playing as France, managed to get Homesteading REAL early meaning the Landowners were marginalized in 1840, which enabled me to go for Presidential Republic also very early. Had to fight one small civil war, but it all worked out and the king is fucking DED folks.

Played some more Monster Hunter: Rise, finally made it to the DLC but haven't really started it beyond the opening since my friend doesn't have it yet. Narwa kinda sucked but is still a better fight than any of the Rampages. More than anything I'm just shocked the base game still isn't over, and that Narwa was the 3rd fakeout.

Lost my monthly Warhammer game, which came down to a single 2/6 die roll boohoo I did at least get to meme my opponent's land raider by killing it in melee with guard infantry.

Finally picked up Signalis, been enjoying it alot but I'm finding inventory management to be pretty tedious in it, even with updated inventory. I can't imagine how worse it was on release, only having six slots and having the flashlight take up one those slots.
