No walk, only drive only-throw

Those with no chip must use right lane

This is literally just a toll road and we've had them in Texas for decades.

The future hellscape dystopia of EZ Pass

[–] [email protected] 54 points 11 months ago (2 children)

The anti 15 minute city thing is really so incredibly stupid. Anyone who's ever lived in a walkable city knows that it is vastly superior to anything based around cars.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 11 months ago

15-minute city, 30-minute city, 57¼-minute city....

These are average commute times. Why do you oppose short average commute times?

That's what I'd say to these people if I ever encountered them. I'm not about to head over to their websites to talk to them.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The people who say this stuff don't know anything about it. They live in a world of "scary things" that Fox news tells them about. They learn nothing about 15 minute cities, only that they are "bad" and will "destroy America" so they hate them.

Which is why you get stuff like the picture above, where it shows the exact opposite of a 15 minute city and just says that's what it is.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yeah I think they think you're not allowed to leave a 15 minute radius from your home or something wild like that. What the hell

[–] [email protected] 7 points 11 months ago (2 children)

It's hard to tell what they actually think on it, because it always changes. If they had a concrete position, that could be combated and they could be reached and educated. If their position changes constantly, they can be kept in a perpetual state of fearful, hateful ignorance.

I have no idea why I assumed their propaganda-version of the 15 minute city still included the "walkable" part. This is even dumber and funnier.

[–] [email protected] 50 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Lol. That's just America with different aesthetics.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 11 months ago
[–] [email protected] 34 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The most unrealistic part of this is that most people are driving reasonably-sized vehicles

[–] [email protected] 27 points 11 months ago

Maybe that's the real dystopia they were trying to show: a world where you can't drive Ford F-150s

[–] [email protected] 30 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It’s kind of funny that actual US border crossing have way more cameras.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 11 months ago (1 children)

CW

It is even a bit more perfidious than that, the gate chosen is that of Auschwitz, it is actually holocaust denial and or negation of the Nazi crimes to overstretch political points. The 15 minute city is not aimed at eliminating Jews, LGBTQ*, Neurodivergent, Socialists, Roma and Sinti etc.

This conspiracy theory picture does combine elements of car brain sentiment with anti change and anti minority and classist elements to redraw lines of who are victims and what the problems are. It is evil, which connects with the "all seeing eye" to former antisemite theories, too, as well as NWO conspiracies.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (4 children)

The artist of the original picture is David Dees, an antisemitic conspiracy theorist who believes

CWKarl Marx created communism as part of a Jewish plot to depopulate the earth of white people.

Any holocaust denial is by design.

Ask a right-winger to describe a communist dystopia and he will describe a capitalist utopia

I mean the special car lane for wealthy elites is already a thing in modern capitalist Russia

[–] [email protected] 11 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I mean toll roads are basically the same shit. Costs north of $30 in some places to take to fast route.

Next Red Alert game looking legit. curry-space

[–] [email protected] 26 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Why would 15 minute cities have everyone on 100 mile stretches of highway in the middle of nowhere?

Where is the city? Are these people driving at 400 miles an hour to get there in 15 minutes?

[–] [email protected] 22 points 11 months ago

It wouldn't surprise me if conservatives think "15 minute city" means places you can drive to in 15 minutes.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 11 months ago

You're really underestimating carbrains hold on the USians imaginations

[–] [email protected] 24 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Man, you can get American conservatives to be terrified of anything.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 11 months ago

"Hey conservatives, I'm going to walk to the grocery store and walk to my job"

So toll lanes, cameras, cell towers, and cars with licence plates (that can be looked up in a public database for personal data) are what 15 minute cities are? No you ignorant fucks, that's what we have now! And yet you'll call it freedom... More like kiss my ass and keep dreaming bucko, your reality of cities with tracking and surveillance already exist and you have the AUDACITY to call it freedom. Fuck off mate.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 11 months ago

"Ask a capitalist why they hate socialism and they'll describe capitalism"

[–] [email protected] 20 points 11 months ago

That looks just like the UK with less roundabouts, tho?

[–] [email protected] 19 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Usually you don't have walking access to a freeway anyway so the razorwire seems like a hat on a hat

[–] [email protected] 8 points 11 months ago

holy shit! two hats1

[–] [email protected] 19 points 11 months ago

ngl it would be cool to have that pyramid eye on the front of my place. lookin' out at passersby all dispassionate and shit. the razorwire, 5G tower and surveillance camera panopticon would just be bonus.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 11 months ago

Carbrain. Not even once. grill-broke

[–] [email protected] 17 points 11 months ago

The mobile phone tower is hilarious. Oh no my phone has reception!!

[–] [email protected] 16 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Do these people still believe in the illuminati controlling the world or is that not a thing anymore?

[–] [email protected] 19 points 11 months ago

It's only cool and good to have a tiny select few having all the power if those tiny select few are kiddie-creeping billionaires. epsteingelion

[–] [email protected] 15 points 11 months ago

The presence of cars implies the capacity to go to places of consumption at your leisure and discretion despite being surveilled. Like they're still getting treats made for them by a lower class person.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 11 months ago (1 children)

looks like a sick drug trip tbh

Ironic seeing as they WANT a wall to be built around their country.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 11 months ago

Do most of the people whining about 15 minute cities even live in a city or a suburb of a city?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 11 months ago

I like to imagine these people’s vision of pod homes is a McPodMansion

[–] [email protected] 11 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The X? Is Elon now an adrenochrome illuminati zombie or whatever in the Qanon lore?
