He got woke on trans rights before I was even out to him. One day he noticed all the Blairites in the local CLP were all pushing a similar line on trans people (a really shitty TERF one). If a Blairite told him water was wet, he'd ask for a second opinion. So he read around, and talked to trans people, and got a more informed view mostly in an attempt to call them out on their bullshit.
I'm just in awe of the man becoming a more supportive parent accidentally in his mission to spite liberals.

So my dad's cis but really outspoken about trans rights (and queer rights in general) which has led to him arguing with all sorts of reactionaries in, like, Facebook groups and shit.
His go to arguement has been to demand the transphobes prove he's a man and then poke holes in whatever proof they suggest as they grow increasingly flustered and run out of arguments. After which he'll hit 'em with a line about how all they've got is his word on it and that's all that should matter.
And, well, I've had a hard time of it recently with transphobia so it's been cathartic seeing him just verbally steamroll these dickheads, laughing the entire time.
Shame the extended family are kinda a nightmare about their transphobia (so bad that I'm not going to out myself to them 'till I have, like, at least an entire country between myself and them), 'cos it's nice having supportive parents.

In my free time I've been playing a bit of Project Zomboid recently and stumbling 'round the McMansions of KY's various towns has made me think about how inherently hostile suburban infrastructure is.
Like, until you can get a car in working order, travel out of and through the suburbs is slow and tiring. Prepare to take days out of your travel time as you run down empty roads, hop fences, and do all sorts of other things I hear gets you shot in the US. As the power goes off and perishables begin rapidly decomposing, you are trapped in a maze-like prison of mankind's making (its occupants only marginally less hostile than a real-life suburb). Seeds are scarce and the only greenery is the copy-paste lawns surrounding you in every direction. If you've thought ahead you've stockpiled your tinned goods, otherwise prepare for a long hike through a world not built for man but instead the machines that they convinced themselves would make their lives easier.
