Does your wife actually work at the morgue, 'cause if so that's kinda neat.
yeah she's genuinely an undertaker who works at a morgue. you get a LOT of stories when asking "love you. how was work today?"
Yo that sounds fucking awesome, morbid as shit but rad.
she likes the morbid aesthetic, she actually wants a full on skeleton hand tatoo on her hand like some grim reaper shit. but mostly just doing a job that needs to be done and gets genuine heartfelt praise when done properly; it's a job where you see people at some very low times, but the care you give in that gets reflected back 10 times very often. people been picking up dead bodies and sorting them out for thousands of years, and somebody is gonna have to do it in another thousand
Oh that's probably the best kind of person for a morgue job, I think? Huge respect honestly
honestly, some of the stuff is pretty fucking grim, people who don't have their heart in it really aren't gonna power through. like the money isn't bad, the late night call outs like 10pm on a sunday night actually pay very well, but not 'jesus fuck I did not want to ever see a human body in that condition' tier of pay
kinda grim
one time she had to get a dude who died weeks before they got to him. he had rotted to the point of actually partially turning into dirt. and yeah they have to collect the dirt to be burried with the skeleton as it is human remainsOh wow so she does the actual pick-up from wherever it is, shit that's even more hardcore. I figured most morgue workers would just be putting 'em into little vaults, wow. Had no idea morgues did their own collection, til.
pretty grim lesgoooo!!
Yeesh don't wanna be thinkin' bout circumstances too hard with that one, and that's probably pretty fuckin stomach churning. Cool though! Worms got to him!!!they do everything at her place from retrieval, embalming/ 'freshing up' what they can, and funerals. she does the whole shebang
So it's like a morgue and a funeral home and more, goddamn!!! Full tilt mortician shit!!
yeah, it's honestly really fun learning all the inside baseball stuff on the death industry. they rotate people around every so often because I imagine spending weeks on end around fresh (well... often times not so fresh) corpses burns through morale
That type of tattoo goes so hard, I hope she gets it.
oh it is such a cool idea. I told her she totally should do it. I just do worry what a family would think. like somebody comes to pick up your dead gran 87 years old, and they have a literal grim reaper hand taking them away
