The Viet Cong were no angels. They killed my grandpa, who was affectionately known as the Kansas Kid Killer. They wiped out his whole unit, the Easterner Exterminators.

Have these Vietmanese people no shame?

"how evil Americans are, which is not true"

Lmao holy shit what a burgerbrain, they're literally going "nuh uh! Ur wrong 😭!!"

[–] [email protected] 72 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Guys I went to a revolutionary war museum in America and it was nothing but blatant anti-English propaganda! Heavily lacking in nuance, no talk of the bad things Americans did to the crown.

[–] [email protected] 43 points 3 months ago

Americans CLAIM to respect property but then they went and STOLE the WHOLE COUNTRY from the king! And act like they're the victims!!

[–] [email protected] 40 points 3 months ago (3 children)

Great part about this comparison is the self-mythologizing about the Revolutionary War about how our brilliant minutemen were hiding in trees and ambushing British soldiers.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 3 months ago

It’s only smart and cunning when we do it

[–] [email protected] 20 points 3 months ago (1 children)

A side note but it was immensely funny to me to discover the British call it a civil war instead, lol

I have strong feelings about this but they are inexpressabale.

[–] [email protected] 32 points 3 months ago (3 children)

something like "everyone in this image should be set on fire and thrown into a pit of gasoline" perhaps?

[–] [email protected] 23 points 3 months ago (1 children)

No, I'm not really down for punitive killing. But re-education camps? Oh yeah, 100%.

In the Netflix series, Ken Burns says the war was ”begun in good faith by decent people, out of fateful misunderstandings”, and aren't both sides to blame, really? A much more balanced view.

[–] [email protected] 49 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I thought that documentary made the Americans look like disgusting monsters who kill for fun and it was still too kind to them.

[–] [email protected] 35 points 3 months ago

If only, the documentary left out Agent Orange completely. Regular massacres by US troops received exactly zero mention. But a lot of time was wasted of crying how the war divided the american public, with forder anti-war protesters crying how bad they were to their ghoulish neighbours.

[–] [email protected] 40 points 3 months ago

very-smart studying liberal theory...

[–] [email protected] 33 points 3 months ago (1 children)

That documentary shit the bed so hard, it was incredible.

When you're a decent NSA agent acting in good faith (by lying) to foment escalation in a war your country has no business participating in anyway.

[–] [email protected] 55 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Most propagandized people on the planet.

I think I'm entering a Joker-ified era and feeling some grotesque glee at seeing these people flail and whine as they are forced to confront the objective evil of the US colonial empire.

[–] [email protected] 35 points 3 months ago

obama-socialism must be nice to think you live in the superhero nation and there just so happens to be evil villain nations who want to destroy you with their propaganda..

[–] [email protected] 21 points 3 months ago

You are trapped in the belly of a horrible machine and the machine is bleeding to death.

Jokerfication is self care.

"so many facts and events distorted that I can't even name one!"

[–] [email protected] 51 points 3 months ago

"The Vietnamese don't understand anything that we did to their country, but I, a white westerner afraid to leave my house because of news propaganda designed to manipulate, understand literally everything better than they do. This is why you should do what I say and watch a Netflix show about it instead"

[–] [email protected] 46 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Americans are scum of the earth

[–] [email protected] 17 points 3 months ago

Don't insult scum.

The people leaving these negative reviews should have a flachette volley dropped over their suburban ranch-style homes.

I recommend seeing it if you ever get the chance.

It's one of the things that shook the anarchism out of me.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 3 months ago (2 children)

shook the anarchism out of me.

If you have the time/energy would you mind elaborating? I'm not an anarchist but sometimes I am at a loss for good ways to explain why

[–] [email protected] 22 points 3 months ago (1 children)

If he expounds too much he risks a ban, but let’s just say the the Vietnamese were an extremely organized and disciplined group who very much relied on authority

[–] [email protected] 16 points 3 months ago

I don't think respectfully explaining merits a sectarianism ban but yeah, that's fair. I was thinking there might be something more specific than "these people were extremely successful and they were communists"

https://www.willflyforfood.net/war-remnants-museum-a-grisly-reminder-of-the-vietnam-war-in-ho-chi-minh-city/ here's an article about it

Looking at the man in the cage and the Agent Orange pictures, if you see this and cry 'one sided' you have no soul.

Maybe if they put pictures of the soldiers who accidentally AO'd themselves instead of civillian families it'd be less biased thinkin-lenin

[–] [email protected] 21 points 3 months ago

Yeah I remember when I watched Red Dawn all I could think was this is just American propaganda to slander all the invading Russian/DPRK soldiers as war criminals; Yes I agree some troops committed war crimes in America, but not all those Americans were poor, innocent people. They need to show both sides. Don't bother going over there, just watch the Russian show instead.

"I was there, My Lai was self defence, those children and women were.... Hamas? Where am I again? Have you seen my... I can't find... I don't- What year is it??" - American boomer, brain disintegrating in real time from a combination of Fox News, Agent Orange, long COVID, leaded gasoline and suppressed guilt.
