damn i keep forgetting to talk to my doctor about that i am still on spiro, were you on spiro before? is cypro way better?
cypro is a significantly more effective T blocker with less side effects and will be preferable in the majority of cases. it's also a progestogen iirc which is cool?
Why do they prescribe spiro then? I feel like I see a lot of people starting on spiro.
CPA is fuckin illegal or some shit in the burger reich for some goddamn reason. Fucking FDA bullshit probably.
oh, i had no idea, is it legal in canada?
Yeah I'm not doing crimes by eating it, lol. It's legal like everywhere else in the world, just not in the joke burger failstate :3
so maybe I should talk to doctor then, but then i have to make a phone call to the very nice people at my clinic (they are very sweet) and see my very nice doctor (i am very lucky, my last doctor quit and there's real problem with docs in my "city"
beautiful word rhythm, as always. i prefer to come up with phrases for people and things when i'm talking about them that describe my connections to them, this is a good example lol
Phone calls are shit but that's what I did, was talked to my endo and got switched, it's rad.
:3 Yeah it slaps, I'm big into the "burgerreich" term originating from here as well
The purported reason it is illegal in is that cpa has a very rare probability of creating non malignant brain tumours.
cpa isn't FDA approved I think. I'm in EU where it's much more common than spiro and it is just better by the current literature. online english spaces tend to be US centric so you see a lot of spiro talk.
Oh nice I love america.
The company that makes it literally cannot be bothered to apply to get it approved by the FDA so doctors arenβt allowed to prescribe it
oh jeez i gotta get in on this, save me some
Yes I was on spiro :3 I peed a lot and sort of desired the "depressive" effects of cypro since I have extremely poor emotional regulation, but 50mg is too much beyond a temp dose usually. Even on 12.5mg my T levels are almost nothing, which fucks. It's good at what it does, but whatever antiandrogen method works best is what's best for you. If your levels come out well and the side effects of spiro (mostly just pee Idk) are fine by you, dw abt it tbh.
you mean on cypro, right? i'm on 300mg spiro...
ok yeah i follow now
yeah i'm planning to get bottom surgery (or at least I think I am? oh man that's a whole thing right now that I'm trying to process in small bursts) so I was just gonna go off anti-andros after that
Yeah I mean cypro, which comes in 50mg tabs but should AT LEAST be divvied into 25mg halves, and I've seen as low as like 6mg. Spiro, anything from 150mg to like, 400mg? is normal.
The bottom surgery conundrum going off antiandros is pretty based, good for your kidneys and/or liver.
yeah, this is why i need to Perfectly Understand My Gender As Soon As Possible, so that I know I'm making the right decision.
But surely there's no pressure, and you can take your time deciding how you feel about it, right?
yeah i decided on the 1-3 year option in a nearby city (that i used to live in lol, so at least i know it well) instead of flying across the country for the less than a year option, which came with a bunch of caveats like i have to get electrolysis done etc.
...this post is an opsec failure
I couldn't dox you fwiw β¨ also caveats suck, death to the medicalisation of trans people under this system.
Thats a relief that at least (although I'm not concerned about anyone posting in bear site in this regard, come visit, but it IS a public forum), but it will be nice to be nearby and not have to fly for the appointments and surgery, even if it does take longer and I have to get hair removal.
Yeah it always sounded kind of harrowing to fly for stuff...
Yes especially after surgery ugh.
Oh but I guess at least I dont have to pay anything! That's an improvement over years ago when I started transition
Free is extremely cool, yeah. That's awesome.
yeah totally, that's one of my motivations, being able to cut back on meds
I'm no where near bottom surgery but it really is a whole thing
Woof I had to stop spiro because the brain fog was so bad that it was hazardous for me to drive. So glad Iβm just on monotherapy now.
I was on spiro briefly before switching to cypro. I had the excessive peeing, but mainly it just made me really dizzy. Cypro is way better
