Welcome to c/electoralism! politics isn't just about voting or running for office, but this community is.

Please read the Chapo Code of Conduct and remember...we're all comrades here.

MODERATORS

put all of your election posting here so it doesn't bother anyone else!

from @[email protected]:

For Agitprop purposes, I’m asking comrades to help aggregate any and all effortpost responses, critiques, or general thoughts that you have seen or written pertaining to yesterday’s U.S. election that you think have standalone value for discussion either online or IRL.

I made a post for that purpose here, and ideally it can be used not only for general discussion, but as a reference for well thought out responses in discussions about the election to save all of us some brainpower.

No shitposts please, as we’d like to highlight some comrades’ actual effort in constructing responses or analysis, but humor is 100% welcome to help make your point!

If Kamala loses, I actually don’t think them blaming the left is gonna work. She went so unabashedly hard right in the campaign, and she was doing so well when she let Walz do his thing. Then she inexplicably made Liz Cheney her de facto VP and started talking like an open fascist.

I don’t know if we can pin it all on Gaza, but I do think the only conclusion anyone will be able to come to is campaigning to the right of Biden was terrible.

Consider the fact that from 1980-2016 (the era of neoliberalism), every president other than Bush Sr was a two-term president (and Bush Sr really was just Reagan’s third term). Then from 2016 on not only do we have single-term presidents, but we are switching parties each time.

Conditions are degrading and the nation that believes the only solution to problems is to vote is trying to mash the buttons to make things better

Liberals coming to terms with bidens legacy going to shit. All the good they think he did will be torn by trump. Their parasocial relationship with this fart had them call him the most progressive president but all he'll be remembered for was being at the helm of a genocide and his brain turning to mush while epstein buddy felon took over.

When the future histories talk about the fall of the American Empire I believe the first half of the 21st century will be talked about like we talk about Rome’s crisis of the 3rd century. A military, economic, and political collapse.

Militarily: Pulling out of Afghanistan, eating shit in Ukraine, one of the poorest countries in the world (Yemen) giving the most power navy in human history a black eye, and directing a genocide in Gaza

Economic: neoliberalism cannibalized the US productive economy so on-paper economic growth driven by people derivatives on ice cream cone sales.

Political: A democrat will win in 2028. Because we’re now in the terminal decline where everything just gets worse every year. Americans don’t know how to process this so they just blame the president. Obama is the last 2 term president the US ever has.

Won’t someone spare a thought for those criminal prosecutors who spent thousands of man-hours and spent millions of dollars to not convict trump-moist only for the charges to slide right off Teflon Don?

Something to have ready when the Democrats lose Georgia:

Atlanta Democrats Blocked the Cop City Referendum — and Alienated a Voter Turnout Operation

In the battleground state of Georgia, Democrats’ decision to disregard the will of 116,000 voters could have major consequences.

Thew only good thing that happens during elections is once in a while you see a former BlueMAGA no matter who account standing on top of a T-34 waving the red banner and it's like "Wow, they can learn."

Liberals on multiple occasions have quoted Malcolm X on social media in relation to pro-Kamala sentiments or disheartenment about her loss, and it's enraging me how many don't recognize the irony. Some of these libshits are white, and that makes it doubly ironic, but this particular post is by a black woman:

Today, I have no words—only tears. Tomorrow, I’ll find some. The next day, I fight.

It's this kind of shit that's prompted me to say what I said in the pinned c/agitprop thread.

It’s going to be funny if Trump wins and Brandon has to act like the president again for a few months.

Im not American, but if I were, Id vote third party in every election. Seems like the only way (from an outsider’s perspective) to tell the two major parties to get fucked, even if it’s just in a minor way. let-them-fight

Plus you get the joy to tell libs you VOTED (3rd party)

CNN released its first glimpse of the 2024 election results a little after 5 p.m. ET Tuesday. Exit polling is expected to shift throughout the night as more responses are collected.

In the poll, 43 percent of voters said they are "dissatisfied" with "the way things are going in the United States." Another 29 percent said they feel "angry."

You'd think after 236 years of pointless voting, everyone would have learned their lesson.

I do think Kamala is gonna win, because the abortion ban has been an (undeserved) boon to the demoncrats. Men can’t even wipe their ass, and Trump expects them to hand him the election.

Oh r/neoliberal is glorious, they're tearing each other to pieces in there. They're turning on Biden, on Kamala, on Zelesnky, on each other. Nothing is sacred to them anymore. Honestly I have hope for a few of them to learn something

I have to ask, if Trump is such a threat to the very democracy of this country why is he allowed to even run? The president was given the power to do anything they want and could have jailed him by now. What gives?

“Watch as we at US left wing news go to a local university to ask young voters about who they’re voting for.

We will be sure to avoid questions related to corporate capture, inflation, exuberant costs of living, rising costs of education and the US’s role in an active genocide.”

I'm genuinely wondering a bit if pollsters are so terrified of losing their legitimacy any further that they're decided to just weigh the polls to roughly 50/50. Like they do have to do some math to try to guess what demographics are less likely to answer polls or whatever but after 2016 and 2020 the process probably looks insane.

The libs are getting creepy with it folks. Yesterday someone came to the door and asked for me specifically, then asked who I was voting for? Thankfully I wasn’t the person who answered the door so I didn’t have to answer them. The postcards were weird (I also got one) but this is just creepy. I really regret changing my registration to Democrat for like one month in 2020 to vote for B*rnie

Just voted PSL. Had to write her in, but now I'm second guessing whether I did it right. Last name was supposed to be first? I just wrote Claudia De La Cruz.

Fuck it.
