The red fox (Vulpes vulpes) is the largest of the true foxes and one of the most widely distributed members of the order Carnivora, being present across the entire Northern Hemisphere including most of North America, Europe and Asia, plus parts of North Africa. It is listed as least concern on the IUCN Red List. Its range has increased alongside human expansion, having been introduced to Australia, where it is considered harmful to native mammals and bird populations. Due to its presence in Australia, it is included on the list of the "world's 100 worst invasive species".

The red fox originated from smaller-sized ancestors from Eurasia during the Middle Villafranchian period, and colonised North America shortly after the Wisconsin glaciation. Among the true foxes, the red fox represents a more progressive form in the direction of carnivory. Apart from its large size, the red fox is distinguished from other fox species by its ability to adapt quickly to new environments. Despite its name, the species often produces individuals with other colourings, including leucistic and melanistic individuals. Forty-five subspecies are currently recognised,[7] which are divided into two categories: the large northern foxes and the small, basal southern grey desert foxes of Asia and North Africa.

Red foxes are usually found in pairs or small groups consisting of families, such as a mated pair and their young, or a male with several females having kinship ties. The young of the mated pair remain with their parents to assist in caring for new kits.[8] The species primarily feeds on small rodents, though it may also target rabbits, squirrels, game birds, reptiles, invertebrates and young ungulates. Fruit and vegetable matter is also eaten sometimes. Although the red fox tends to kill smaller predators, including other fox species, it is vulnerable to attack from larger predators, such as wolves, coyotes, golden jackals, large predatory birds such as golden eagles and Eurasian eagle owls, and medium- and large-sized felids.

The species has a long history of association with humans, having been extensively hunted as a pest and furbearer for many centuries, as well as being represented in human folklore and mythology. Because of its widespread distribution and large population, the red fox is one of the most important furbearing animals harvested for the fur trade. Too small to pose a threat to humans, it has extensively benefited from the presence of human habitation, and has successfully colonised many suburban and urban areas. Domestication of the red fox is also underway in Russia, and has resulted in the domesticated silver fox.

My current company's culture seems particularly insane, constantly showing up to pointless meetings where people will have powerpoints up with broad generic discussion topics and they'll take meeting notes in the powerpoint. Also everyone wants their opinion in on everything which involves me getting a vague lecture on my subject matter expertise.

Anyone have any good resources on/about trans people who don't realize it until later(ish) in life (18+)? I keep having this nagging feeling about not liking being a guy (this has been happening for months now) but my childhood was very cis and every time I hear trans people talk about when they "knew" they were like 7.

Anyway, might be nothing, but still would be interesting to hear/read about it.

Just bought some high CBD bud, a bucket of Greek yoghurt, made a great salad, and I’ve got a mountain of strawberries. This Friday night is going to be lit for 45 minutes before I fall asleep.

I work at Langley, right? I went out on this project constructing a surveillance site for spying on these random communists in some South American country I've never heard of (because of chauvinism).

The problem is that the landlord for this site was a kind and funny older gentleman. He has these rugged hands that revealed him as someone who labored all his life and he had a story to match. He had professional qualifications for all the utilities and construction. He was involved in getting the road to the site paved. He came around with his forklift to lift stuff, he was there when we told him how much electricity our RADAR and X-rays needed. He was there when they needed to plug the computers into the ceiling with a ladder-vehicle.

Do I need to face the wall because I was actually a capitalist the entire time? The man clearly labored so he clearly deserves some fruits. Is it more about the station of private land ownership than the person? How could a just society look at him and make him the subject of a struggle session?

Why isn't there a medieval themed bar near me. I want to go to a place and drink out of goblets and flagons and listen to lute music and discuss rumours of mudcrabs. I wanna buy bottles of beer and mead brewed by monks and eat a winter stew server by someone wearing a cloak. Why isn't this a thing

I mean I'm sure it's real somewhere in New York or something as a novelty but I want this place to be down the street from me.

The best and most pure Seinfeld character is Newman and I'd love to be friends with thst guy beyond anyone else in the cast. He's loyal, as his longtime barber Enzo proclaims, he has the mind of a philosopher king as shown by his wisdom in judging the bike dispute, as a proletariat he is an example for us to follow to the damn letter thst he doesn't deliver if it's raining, he figured out the bottle return scheme loophole which they could have tried again, it was mitigating circumstances thst ruined the first attempt and even his worst enemy has admitted that he is, in fact 'merry'.

Fumbling a baddie cause you can't just not explain how communism won't destroy the advances in organizational techniques developed under capitalism, but will instead free them to be deployed democratically by the workers in organizing themselves.

CW: SA, Dismissing SA, Non-functional justice systemExtremely sad and disgusted that after a high-profile court case in my country a bunch of pedophile rapists were just allowed to walk free today. Because there was a video of the victim singing with a friend in the car some time after the assault, a bunch of the judges decided she didn't look traumatized enough. The justice system here is a joke when it comes to sexual assault. Rape is functionally completely legal in this clown country.

At least someone was able to leak the identity of the perpetrators to the public, so I pray against hope that there's someone brave enough to just go and crack their heads open on the pavement.

Its really nice to finally be able to start opening windows because it's not cold as hell. It just nice hearing the outside, and like hearing all that outside noise like birds going wild. or squirrels doing their thing.

I didn't even fucking call out, I just texted the chef saying "hey there's a good chance i'll be calling out tomorrow, i've been in bed sick all day" and he calls me and then texts me telling me to call him and then goes "Do you even want this job, where are you" before sending a text like "what" like he didn't understand my fucking message. How the fuck is any of that necessary when I'm just like warning him of the possibility of me calling out?

Other than Thursday i haven't called out since fucking November. The sous chef has been gone 3x in that time frame because of his kid being sick, did he get the same bullshit?

I ranted at him about how I've been feeling shitty since Thursday, went to work Friday despite still feelin shitty and howc it was an ordeal, and how i've been in bed literally all day today with hardly the energy to make myself breakfast and how yeah I want the fucking job but I've been feeling fucking sick.

He said some shit about how he's "just trying to plan" and mumbled some stuff about how he likes me and I do good work etc. I think he's either drunk or on drugs because he was so hard to understand. Idk.

I think i'll feel well enough to work tomorrow but I kind of want to stay home either way on the principle of I'm not a fucking slave and don't talk to me like that

This sort of response to calling out should be illegal

I'm so exhausted. I feel like I'm doing the best I ever have been mentally at 35, and I'm substantially less functional than most high schoolers. I know what's wrong with me, I just don't see it getting any better. Certainly not soon enough to satisfy anyone.

Am I crazy for interpreting that everybody posting that Rittenhouse got washed out from the marines in testing bit as less "haha Rittenhouse so dumb even for the marines" and more the marines saving themselves a huge headache by just keeping him out from jump? Like these guys eat crayons but even they aren't so hard up as to give that dude any kind of training.
